JOHN SPEEDE New Map of Poland, annotated to scaled key 'Humble 1626', framed, 54cm x 24cm, Edward Gordon label verso. CONDITION REPORT: Centre fold. Rather brown overall. Colours slightly faded to margins and very faded to map. Paper rather dirty. Some small creases along edges and a small split at bottom. Taped to cardboard backing. Would still frame nicely.This fine map appeared in Speed's "The Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of the World". It is a "carte a figure" map, adorned with images of a Polonian Gentleman and Gentlewoman, Polonian Man and Woman, 2 coats of arms, a Silesian Woman and Bride and Dantsick Maid and Bride. On the top are views of Cracow, Dantzick, Posna, Crossen, Sandomiria and Breslaw. With English text on verso. Suggested bid $1000
